Middlesbrough have announced the signing of striker Jordan Rhodes from Blackburn on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The 25-year-old has joined the Championship promotion-chasers for an undisclosed fee after completing a medical on Deadline Day.

A Boro statement read: "The club is delighted to confirm the arrival of Jordan Rhodes. The Scotland international arrives as one of the most prolific goalscorers to have graced the Football League in recent years."

Rhodes' move to Aitor Karanka's team almost completely fell apart, after he had passed a medical and agreed personal terms on a switch to the Riverside Stadium on Saturday.

He was informed on Sunday morning that Middlesbrough had cancelled the move, and Rhodes told Sky Sports News HQ he was "baffled and disappointed" by their decision to withdraw from the deal.

Boro, however, claimed the deal broke down because they were unable to agree personal terms with Rhodes.

Rhodes has now completed the transfer after the deal was resurrected early on Monday, and he arrives having scored 85 goals in 169 matches for Blackburn.
