Summer signings Gaston Ramirez and Brad Guzan have finally been cleared to play in England for their new club Middlesbrough.

Ramirez and Guzan have featured during Boro's pre-season campaign but they have only been able to play in matches outside the United Kingdom.

Both players saw their paperwork delayed but that has now been signed off and they will be able to feature in the club's final friendly against Spanish side Real Sociedad on Saturday.

A club statement read: "The relevant permissions have now been secured for summer signings Brad Guzan and Gaston Ramirez to play in the UK.

"The duo have only featured on foreign soil for Boro this summer, but the club has now received the green light for the pairing."

Ramirez played 18 games for Boro last season, on loan from Southampton, as they secured promotion to the Premier League and he joined the club on a permanent basis last month.

United States international Guzan made the move from Aston Villa after they were relegated from the top division and will battle Victor Valdes for a starting role in Aitor Karanka's side.
