Southgate kicks off promotion push at the Riverside

Middlesbrough begin life back in the Championship by welcoming Sheffield United to the Riverside, before travelling to Swansea the following week. As Boro bid to make a bright start to what they hope will be a promotion winning campaign, the opening month of the season also includes games against Scunthorpe, Doncaster and Bristol City. The 19th December promises to be an early Christmas cracker as Boro travel to North East rivals Newcastle, before playing host to the Toon on 13th March. Boro face fellow Premier League drop-outs and promotion candidates West Brom on 19th Sept (H) and 17th April (A). Promotion from the Championship often goes to the wire and if Gareth Southgate and co are to be involved in any last day shenanigans, they'll have to get the better of Leicester City on 2nd May.
