Cottagers lining up new bid for Almeria star

Fulham are set to make an improved offer for Almeria striker Kalu Uche this week, according to reports. Various newspapers in Spain have claimed that the Cottagers made a £2.1million bid for the 26-year-old Nigeria international but the Spanish club are holding out for twice that amount. But Fulham have now apparently renewed contact and are set to make a fresh bid on Wednesday. Almeria coach Hugo Sanchez has asked the club to retain Uche because he is a key part of his plans for the coming season after the departure of Alvaro Negredo. However, president Alfonso Garcia is believed to now be willing to accept an offer of around £3.5m. Earlier this month, Uche told AS: "Hugo asked me to stay. "He is counting on me for next season and I am very grateful for that, but I still cannot tell you anything. "I haven't spoken to Alfonso Garcia directly, but the truth is that I still have several offers to consider."
