Wigan have signed Danny Fox from Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

Wigan had seen an offer for the 32-year-old defender rejected by Forest earlier in January, but looked set to complete the deal with Fox undergoing a medical on Tuesday.

Fox originally joined Forest from Southampton in January 2014 on a loan deal made permanent in the summer, and went on to make 123 appearances during his five-year stint at the City Ground.

Speaking about Fox's arrival, Latics boss Paul Cook said: "Danny has great experience in the Premier League and Championship and is a great addition to our squad.

"Great credit to Danny for joining us after captaining Nottingham Forest in their promotion push in the Championship.
