Wigan have signed Danny Fox from Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.
Wigan had seen an offer for the 32-year-old defender rejected by Forest earlier in January, but looked set to complete the deal with Fox undergoing a medical on Tuesday.
Fox originally joined Forest from Southampton in January 2014 on a loan deal made permanent in the summer, and went on to make 123 appearances during his five-year stint at the City Ground.
Speaking about Fox's arrival, Latics boss Paul Cook said: "Danny has great experience in the Premier League and Championship and is a great addition to our squad.
"Great credit to Danny for joining us after captaining Nottingham Forest in their promotion push in the Championship.
"I think our supporters would appreciate that leadership and experience amongst our very young back five has been something we have been searching for and we are delighted to have found it in Danny."
Fox has previously played for Walsall, Coventry City and Burnley and Celtic.
