West Ham are interested in signing Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz, Sky sources understand.
Galatasaray are said to be open to letting Yilmaz leave during the January transfer window and value the forward at around £5m.
Sky sources also understand the Turkish club would prefer to sanction a permanent transfer, but would agree to loan Yilmaz out for the remainder of the season with an obligation to buy in the summer.
Yilmaz, who has scored 81 goals in 140 appearances for Galatasaray, is also understood to have attracted interest from four other Premier League clubs.
Last week, West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ the club were hoping to sign a new forward within the next seven days and is believed to have submitted a loan bid for Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike.
Mauro Zarate has since departed for Fiorentina for a fee believed to be in the region of £1.6m, leaving manager Slaven Bilic with only two fit forwards currently at his disposal - Enner Valencia and Nikica Jelavic.
Diafra Sakho (thigh) and Andy Carroll (hamstring) are currently on the sidelines because of injury, but are expected to return to first-team action in February.
