Javi Gracia is setting no targets for his side as seventh placed Watford prepare to face leaders Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

Javi Gracia is setting no targets for what his side can achieve this season as Watford get set to face table-toppers Liverpool on Wednesday evening.

The 5-1 demolition of Cardiff City on Friday moved the Hornets into seventh and bolstered their hopes of playing European football next season.

However, the Spanish boss is not getting carried away and insists he will be proud of his hard-working side regardless of where they finish in the Premier League table this season.

"If we are in seventh it is because many people, the players mainly, have worked very hard for a long-time," insisted Gracia.

"At the end of the season we will see what we are able to achieve but at the moment the fans are proud of these players and the work they are doing.

"Whether we finish seventh, eighth, or any other position it doesn't change my feeling about this squad - we are a good squad, competing well."

Wednesday night's game at Anfield begins a tough month of fixtures, facing Leicester City, Manchester City and Manchester United in the Premier League as well as an FA Cup quarter-final clash against Crystal Palace.

Highlights from Watford's 5-1 win at Cardiff in the Premier League

In the corresponding league fixtures Watford failed to pick up a single point - something Gracia is well aware of but not too concerned about.

"For us we are playing in two competitions, the Premier League and FA Cup and we want to win every game," Gracia said.

"There are 11 games left and we are going to compete against some very good teams.

"It's difficult for us to get good results against these teams and maybe we won't get any points in the next four games but then win the rest of them.

"The main thing is trying to compete game-by-game and being focused on trying to get three points.

"That is our only focus but at the moment the team is in a good place with confidence to compete with any team in the league."
