Striker Britt Assombalonga has signed a new five-year contract with Nottingham Forest, the club have announced.

Assombalonga's fresh deal will see the powerful forward contracted to the club until 2021.

The 23-year has become a fan-favourite with the Reds after moving to the City Ground from Peterborough in 2014.

At London Road, Assombalonga scored 33 goals in 58 appearances. He would go on to score 15 times in his debut campaign with Forest before suffering a season-ending knee injury in February 2015.

The Congolese-born striker began his career at Watford before he enjoyed loan spells at Wealdstone, Baintree and Southend.
