Luton have asked West Brom for permission to speak to assistant coach Graeme Jones about their managerial vacancy, according to Sky sources.
The Hatters are on the lookout for a new manager after Nathan Jones left to take charge of Stoke City on Wednesday.
His namesake Graeme has extensive experience as an assistant boss, having worked under Roberto Martinez at Swansea, Wigan and Everton as well as Belgium - who he helped finish third at last year's World Cup.
Jones ended his long relationship with Martinez last summer to link up with Darren Moore at West Brom, who are in contention for an immediate return to the Premier League.
Luton sit second in Sky Bet League One with 15 wins from 26 games. Mick Harford will take charge of Saturday's game against promotion rivals Sunderland.
