Clubs ready to move for Swede

Skysports.com understands that a number of clubs are ready to move for Birmingham's Seb Larsson. The ever-increasing interest is not only coming from rival Premier League clubs, but also from Spain, Italy and Germany. Fulham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Blackburn are all keen to talk with Larsson, who is out of contract at the end of the season and can therefore discuss terms with any overseas club from 1st January. The foreign interest is led by Valencia and should they opt to do a deal, then Larsson could sign a pre-contract with the Primera Liga giants and Birmingham would be powerless to prevent it. Birmingham took up an option on Larsson's contract last season, and they have since looked to try and broker a new deal. Alex McLeish has long insisted he wanted the Swedish international to remain but skysports.com understands that a new deal is far from being agreed. McLeish admits that he does not see any developments before January, admitting: "The last contact (regarding Larsson's contract) was a couple of months ago. "I know Julia Shelton (City's head of football administration) has been liaising with Seb's agent. "So, I guess, if anything is going to happen, it will be in the next break (transfer window)." Larsson has featured prominently for Birmingham this season, starting 11 Premier League games so far.
