Sunderland’s move for Leeds goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is off, after the clubs failed to reach an agreement, Sky sources understand.
Sky Sports reported last week Sunderland made an approach for the 34-year-old, but it was understood Leeds were reluctant to let the player leave.
Sunderland manager Chris Coleman is said to be unimpressed with the form of both Robbin Ruiter and Jason Steele this season, and had been looking at Leeds' second choice 'keeper as an alternative.
Lonergan is known to the Sunderland coaching staff as assistant manager Kit Symons brought him to Fulham, while first-team manager, in 2015.
A former England U21 international, Lonergan has made only nine appearances for Leeds this season and spent the majority of the campaign deputising for Felix Wiedwald.
Meanwhile, Didier Ndong has completed a medical at Watford ahead of a loan move away from the Stadium of Light, according to Sky sources.
Sunderland broke their transfer record in 2016 to sign Ndong from French club Lorient for £13.5m. During his 18-month spell at the club, he has made 54 appearances and scored once.
