West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer.
Sky sources understand no official bid has yet been made, but Albion have approached Spurs to ask whether they are prepared to sell.
The news comes after Manchester City saw an £18m bid for West Brom centre-back Jonny Evans rejected.
Baggies boss Tony Pulis is adamant he doesn't want to lose his captain, and is keen on strengthening his defensive options whether or not Evans stays.
Stoke City also enquired about Wimmer's availability earlier in the window, but withdrew their interest after the £7m signing of Bruno Martins Indi from Porto.
Wimmer, 24, who has two caps for Austria, joined Spurs from FC Koln in May 2015 and has made 14 Premier League appearances in two seasons.
