Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo says he wants defender Jonny to focus on football

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo wants defender Jonny Castro Otto to focus on his performance rather than transfer speculation.

It was reported earlier this week Wolves are set to complete the permanent signing of Jonny during the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old joined from Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan last summer.

Asked about whether the loan deal will be made permanent, Nuno said: "What I can say about Jonny is we are very pleased and happy with him and I think he is also happy to be here.

"He works hard and stays focused knowing that people take care of the other business. Our job is to train and compete.

"Jonny and I only need to be focusing on what's happening on the pitch and our tasks. We are preparing for the game tomorrow; we don't get distracted by anything or anyone."

Nuno says he cannot say he will not repeat his celebration after his side's last-minute winner against Leicester

The Spaniard has played 19 times for Wolves in the Premier League, scoring once and Nuno has praised Jonny on how well he has settled in England.

"He is very happy here, he has his family here, everything is OK but nothing has changed," Nuno added.

"I think honestly during this period [January transfer window] there is so many speculation and rumours all over the place. You have to be focused and distract yourself from what is going on outside."

Wolves play West Ham United on Tuesday with Manuel Pellegrini's side one point behind Wolves in the table.
