Joe Ralls was sent off for a lunge on Lucas Moura

Cardiff have appealed to the FA against the red card shown to Joe Ralls in their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.

The midfielder was shown a straight red for his tackle on Lucas Moura in the second half by referee Mike Dean.

Tottenham players were quick to complain to Dean, and Harry Kane was booked for confronting Ralls following his challenge.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock criticised the decision after the game - which left his side bottom of the Premier League.

Neil Warnock says he can't understand the referee's decision to send off Joe Ralls in Cardiff's defeat at Tottenham

He accused Tottenham's players, led by Kane, as well as one of the assistant referees and the fourth official of persuading Dean to show a red card for the tackle, which he felt only deserved a yellow.

If Ralls' appeal is unsuccessful, he will face a three-match ban, which would result in him missing matches against Fulham, Liverpool and Leicester.
