Joey Barton has received his medal for winning the Sky Bet Championship with Burnley.

There was an embarrassing moment on Monday night when the Clarets squad was presented with the title trophy on the steps of Burnley Town Hall.

Just 25 medals were distributed to the players - of which there were 27 - meaning Barton and James Tarkowski were left empty-handed.

But the midfielder has posted a picture on Instagram of him alongside his family with his overdue medal - and the Championship trophy for good measure.

Burnley had earlier apologised for the mix-up during the medal ceremony,

"The Football League advised the club that 25 medals were to be presented, but the club put forward 27 players," a statement read.
