Burnley win Berisha appeal

Albanian striker Besart Berisha has been given a work permit to join Burnley.

Burnley aim to finalise the signing of Besart Berisha after the Albanian was granted a work permit.

Berisha had agreed a three-year contract to join the Championship club, who had a £340,000 offer accepted by Hamburg earlier this month.

The transfer hinged on the striker being given a work permit by the Home Office and Thursday's appeal hearing has proved successful.

Clarets boss Steve Cotterill was delighted with the verdict and is now looking forward to Berisha linking up with his new team-mates.

"We are delighted with the decision, not only for ourselves but also the fans, who took to him when he played here recently," Cotterill told the club's official website.

"We are especially pleased for Besart himself because he was desperate to come to Burnley.

"We are now awaiting the work permit, which will hopefully be issued tomorrow lunchtime.

"Hopefully then, all the paperwork will be finalised in time for him to join his new team-mates in pre-season training."
