Burnley finished pre-season on a high as they beat Serie A outfit Hellas Verona 3-1 at Turf Moor.

Boss Sean Dyche named a side which could very well be similar to the one which starts their Premier League campaign at Chelsea a week on Monday, and he will be happy to have seen them end pre-season in fine style.

After a goalless first-half, it was the visitors who took the lead in Lancashire with Lazaros Christodoulopoulos heading home past Tom Heaton after playing a one-two with Luca Toni.

But Burnley responded quickly - within 30-seconds and it was Matt Taylor who scored his first ever goal in Burnley colours as he lashed the ball home after good work from Kieran Trippier and Danny Ings.

Just after the hour and Burnley found themselves ahead as the in-form Lukas Jutkiewicz  - who has top-scored for the Clarets during pre-season - headed home Ben Mee's cross.

The final goal arrived from substitute Ross Wallace as he curled home a wonderful free-kick to seal the win.
