Middlesbrough sign Jonny Howson from Norwich

Middlesbrough have completed the signing of midfielder Jonny Howson from Norwich.

The 29-year-old passed a medical on Teeside and has joined for an undisclosed fee.

He is Garry Monk's first signing since he took over at Middlesbrough.

Howson began his career with Leeds' academy before making his professional debut when he was 16.

He went on to make 200 appearances for his hometown club before moving to Norwich in 2012 when they were in the Premier League.

He has scored over 50 goals and has captained both Leeds and Norwich.

Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber told the club's official website: "Jonny, via his agent, made it very clear during my first week in the job he didn't want to be here and wanted to move back to the north.
