Neil Warnock was overjoyed with Nedum Onuoha's late winner against Reading to secure a 1-0 win at the Madejski Stadium

Neil Warnock says the QPR job will be a test for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as he bowed out of his temporary role with a 1-0 win at Reading.

Nedum Onuoha's last-minute header gave the visitors the victory on Thursday night, leaving them two points off the play-off spots in the Sky Bet Championship.

Sky sources understand Hasselbaink will take over as QPR boss on Friday morning, and Warnock expects him to give the side a boost.

He told Sky Sports: "He can give them another step, like he did at Burton, but it's a different level this, so it will be a good test for him.

"It's not easy this league, but I love the Championship. It's whetted my appetite again this, I'll have to be careful."

QPR have won two, lost one and drawn one of Warnock's four games in charge, but the 67-year-old says he has loved every minute of his short stint.
