Leicester are in talks with Monaco over a £20m deal for midfielder Youri Tielemans, Sky Sports News understands.
The Foxes are believed to have been monitoring the Belgium international for some time, and he is understood to be open to a move to the Premier League.
Leicester were originally planning a quiet January transfer window, with no arrivals and the departure of some fringe players on the agenda.
However, Vicente Iborra's move to Villarreal, Matty James's injury troubles and the indifferent form of Wilfred Ndidi and Nampalys Mendy have forced Leicester into trying to strengthen their midfield.
Tielemans joined Monaco from Anderlecht in the summer of 2017 and has gone on to make 65 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.
He has 19 caps for Belgium, and was part of the side that twice beat England on their way to finishing third in the 2018 World Cup.
