Barnsley have completed the signing of Welsh goalkeeper Kyle Letheren.
Barnsley have completed the signing of Wales Under-21 international goalkeeper Kyle Letheren.The 19-year-old has been on trial at Oakwell hoping to win a permanent switch after leaving Swansea at the end of last season.
Letheren has impressed Andy Ritchie's coaching staff during his time at the club and was widely tipped to be handed a contract for the coming season.
The Welsh shot-stopper has penned a one-year contract at Barnsley, subject to international clearance, but could see the deal extended if he impresses during the campaign.
"We are delighted to have signed Kyle and he will provide a little bit of cover for us," Ritchie (pictured) told the club's official website.
"Kyle has worked with John Lukic for the last three weeks and has been impressive. John is very pleased with what he has seen and is looking forward to working with him.
"He is a Welsh Under-21 international with good size and stature and also a good lad as well.
"Kyle has spoken to me about just how much he has enjoyed his time here and has really worked well with John and Nick Colgan.
"Kyle will provide cover if needed and gives us a little breathing space while we search for the number two we want."
Meanwhile, Colin Healy's switch to Oakwell will not be completed until early next week.
The Republic of Ireland international is expected to put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract after the weekend.
