Leeds forward Lee Erwin has been told to prove himself at the club after returning from a month-long loan spell at Bury.

Erwin, 21, is yet to make his Leeds debut after signing from Motherwell in the summer and made three appearances, two off the bench, during his stay with the Shakers.

But Leeds head coach Steve Evans, who tried to sign him when manager at Rotherham, has hinted Erwin could force his way into his first-team plans.

"He has to demonstrate that he's good enough to be here because, if he's not, he'll end up back in Scotland," Evans told the club's official website.

"But he's a confident boy. I rang him as soon as I took over to remind him that I'm a manager who was keen to try and secure his services.

"I like him, I tried to do something at Rotherham. I went up to Scotland to watch him twice and I'd say that for one-and-a-half of the two games, he did really well and in the other half he did OK."
