Southend's Charlie Kelman, 17, scored a sensational goal from the halfway line in their 3-2 defeat against Plymouth.
After 73 minutes, Chris Powell's Shrimpers were three goals behind and looked to be heading towards the full-time whistle without a flicker of a comeback against the struggling visitors.
That said, Argyle's David Fox conceded a penalty after a handball with four minutes to play, and when Simon Cox netted the resulting penalty, the landscape of the game seemed to change.
And Kelman, who replaced 18-year-old Isaac Hutchinson after 71 minutes, set up a nervy final at Roots Hall when he battled for the ball just outside the centre circle and confidently struck a wonder-goal from his own half in the second minute of injury time.
It proved to be too little, too late, however, as Plymouth held on for the final four minutes of the additional time to record a much-needed victory.
