Highlights of the Sky Bet League One game between Portsmouth and Bolton

Brett Pitman went from villain to hero to earn Portsmouth a hard-fought 1-0 win at home to Bolton and ease the pressure on manager Kenny Jackett.

Pitman headed the winning goal in the 66th minute as Pompey picked up only their second victory of the season.

The striker had earlier hit the post with a penalty after John Marquis had been brought down by Jack Hobbs.

Portsmouth were booed off at half-time after Bolton had the better of a dull opening half, with Ali Crawford, Will Buckley and Thibaud Verlinden all going close.

The home fans became increasingly agitated and took their frustration out on the out-of-sorts Ronan Curtis and Jackett before the winger was replaced.

Pitman made amends for his missed penalty by converting James Bolton's pin-point cross with a controlled header back across Remi Matthews to alleviate the growing unrest inside Fratton Park, for another week at least.
