Scunthorpe 0-1 Bristol Rovers: Jonson Clarke-Harris hits winner
Saturday 9 March 2019 19:50, UK
Bristol Rovers boosted their League One survival hopes with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Scunthorpe.
Jonson Clarke-Harris scored the game's only goal - his fifth strike in as many games - to ensure Rovers move out of the relegation places.
Adam Hammill twice went close for the hosts in the early exchanges before Rovers' Michael Kelly hammered a shot just over the crossbar.
Kevin Van Veen sent a shot wide for United before Rovers midfielder Liam Sercombe smacked a shot against the post.
The breakthrough came for the visitors after 35 minutes when Clarke-Harris slotted the ball beyond Jak Alnwick after Tom Nichols' pullback.
Scunthorpe began brightly after the restart but Funso Ojo could not force the ball home from a couple of yards out.
Down at the other end, Sercombe saw a shot charged down before Ollie Clarke wastefully blasted over.
Dutch striker Van Veen was denied by Rovers goalkeeper Jack Bonham again late on, before firing over when well-placed as the Iron suffered a first home loss since Boxing Day.
