Josh Wright has signed a new two-year contract at Gillingham.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined the Gills last summer on a free transfer, had previously attracted interest from Huddersfield, Scunthorpe and Walsall.
But Wright has agreed terms on a contract that will keep him at the Priestfield Stadium until June 2018.
"I'm delighted to sign with the club," he told the club's official website. "There was only one place I wanted to be playing football next season, and that is at Gillingham.
"I love it at the club, the manager has been fantastic, the chairman has been spot on with the contract process and I have a special bond with the fans, who have given me great support during my time here.
"I'm really looking forward to the next two years at the club."
Wright made 44 appearances during the 2015/16 season and captained Justin Edinburgh's side on numerous occasions in the absence of former club skipper Doug Loft.
He becomes the latest Gillingham player to commit his future to the club after goalkeepers Stuart Nelson and Tom Hadler put pen-to-paper on new contracts.
Wright, who started his career at Charlton, spent two years with Scunthorpe between 2009 and 2011, making 81 appearances for the club and scoring once - a stunning long-range strike against Manchester United in the League Cup.
He left to join Millwall and subsequently spent time at Leyton Orient and Crawley before signing for Gillingham.
