Brighton are in talks with FC Ingolstadt 04 about signing left-back Markus Suttner, according to Sky sources.
Sky Sports News HQ understands the Bundesliga club have rejected an initial offer for the Austria international, but newly-promoted Brighton remain interested.
The Seagulls have already signed attacking midfielder Pascal Gross from Ingolstadt this summer, as they prepare for their first season in the Premier League.
Manager Chris Hughton has also added right-back Josh Kerr from Celtic and Valencia goalkeeper Matthew Ryan, who replaces David Stockdale.
Hughton's next target Suttner has been playing for Ingolstadt for the previous two seasons, making over 50 appearances, having joined them from Austria Vienna in 2015.
Suttner made over 200 appearances for Austria Vienna, and has 18 caps for the Austrian national side.
