McGhee reveals McCammon rift

Mark McGhee admitted he threw Mark McCammon off the Brighton team bus.

Mark McGhee has admitted that he threw Mark McCammon off the Brighton team bus after a half time fallout at Burnley.

Albion were 1-0 down at half time and manager McGhee was thoroughly unimpressed with the display in the opening 45 minutes.

His reprimand did not go down well with McCammon and he was substituted for the second half.

McGhee was so incensed with the former Millwall man that he ordered him off the team bus following the 1-1 draw at Turf Moor.

"At half time I told the players I was disappointed with a number of the individual performances in the first half," McGhee told the club's website.

"With one exception, the players accepted that criticism and went out and put things right in the second half.

"However Mark McCammon didn't agree with what I said to him at half time, and therefore I substituted him.

"I wasn't happy with his attitude.

"After the match I told him I didn't want him travelling back on the team bus with the rest of us and that he was to return home with two other members of staff in another club vehicle. However Mark declined and chose to make his own way home."

McGhee's words obviously had some effect on the rest of his players as they battled back for a draw at Burnley.

Despite still being in the bottom three, McGhee believes that a win from their final three games will see them survive in The Championship.

"If we win one game, I think we will stay up.

"I don't think drawing two games will be enough - we will need at least three points.

"I think, as Watford have shown this weekend, if you get a win then you are halfway there.

"I think that we need to win a game from the three that we have got left."
