Port Vale fans react to drawing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with some supporters calling it a 'dream come true' after reaching this far in the competition for the first time since 1954

Manchester City have been drawn against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals, while Chelsea will host League One side Port Vale after they knocked out Sunderland in the fifth round.

City's Premier League title rivals Arsenal go to Southampton, currently eighth in the Championship, with Leeds United facing a trip to West Ham after the Hammers defeated Brentford on penalties on Monday evening.

The FA Cup quarter-final ties will be played on the weekend of April 4/5.

It is another favourable draw for record 14-time winners Arsenal, who have the chance to reach the FA Cup semi-finals without facing Premier League opposition.

The Gunners knocked out Mansfield and Wigan, both in League One, after beating Championship side Portsmouth in the third round.

Arsenal's cup draws this season

  • FA Cup: Portsmouth (A), Wigan (H), Mansfield (A), Southampton (A)
  • Carabao Cup: Port Vale (A), Brighton (H), Crystal Palace (H), Chelsea (A and H)
  • Champions League: Athletic Bilbao (A), Olympiakos (H), Atletico Madrid (H), Slavia Prague (A), Bayern Munich (H), Club Brugge (A), Inter Milan (A), Kairat Almaty (H), Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting CP or Bodo/Glimt*

Meanwhile, there is no let up for City, who trail Premier League leaders Arsenal by seven points with a game in hand, after they won at Newcastle in the previous round.

City, currently preparing for a Champions League last-16 tie against Real Madrid, face the prospect of a daunting run of games in April after being drawn against Liverpool.

Port Vale were the giantkillers of the fifth round, eliminating Premier League side Sunderland in a 1-0 win, and have been rewarded with an even tougher game - a trip to Club World Cup champions Chelsea.

Vale, eight points adrift at the bottom of the League One table, are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, making it through to the quarter-finals for the first time since 1954.
