Celtic 4-0 Linfield (6-0 on aggregate): Scott Sinclair double helps secure Champions League progress

Celtic cruised into the Champions League third qualifying round after a 4-0 second-leg victory (6-0 on aggregate) over Linfield on Wednesday.

Holding a 2-0 lead from the first leg in Northern Ireland, the Scottish champions quickly extended their advantage at Celtic Park through Scott Sinclair (4).

Tom Rogic swept in their second shortly after half-time (46) and Sinclair netted again on 54 minutes to put the home side in complete control.

Substitute Stuart Armstrong added a stoppage-time fourth after more excellent work by the lively Rogic.

Celtic will face Rosenborg in the third qualifying round after the Norwegian team beat Dundalk 3-2 on aggregate, with the first leg set for Celtic Park next Wednesday.

Olivier Ntcham, making his competitive debut following his arrival from Manchester City, was impressive in midfield and played a role in Sinclair's opener.

Brendan Rodgers' side should been further ahead at half-time but Rogic, Sinclair and Moussa Dembele all wasted excellent opportunities.

The hosts eventually extended their lead through Rogic, who fired low into the bottom corner from outside the box.

Sinclair swiftly notched Celtic's third of the game, capitalising on poor Linfield defending to dispatch high into Roy Carroll's net.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper then rolled back the years to deny Sinclair a hat-trick, stretching to divert a curling shot onto the crossbar.

Linfield struggled to cope with Celtic's press and failed to threaten their opponents, with home goalkeeper Craig Gordon a bystander for the vast majority of the match.

Armstrong put further gloss on Celtic's performance with a firm finish in the 92nd minute following a fine run by Rogic.
