Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain says he hopes Brendan Rodgers stays as manager amid Leicester City speculation

Celtic keeper Scott Bain admits the players 'would love' Brendan Rodgers to stay at the club amid speculation linking him with the vacant Leicester role.

Rodgers is one of the favourites to succeed Claude Puel, who was sacked on Sunday after less than 16 months in charge at the King Power Stadium.

And the Northern Irishman, who took Liverpool to the brink of the Premier League title in 2014, is currently 4/6 favourite with SkyBet to succeed the Frenchman.

However, Hoops keeper Bain has stressed how important Rodgers is to the Scottish Premiership table-toppers.

Brendan Rodgers has played down links with the managerial vacancy at Leicester and says he is focused on Celtic

Speaking ahead of Celtic's trip to Hearts on Wednesday night, he said: "There is always going to be speculation when other jobs come up but obviously we would love him to be here.

"He has a contract here and there is nothing much that we can do, we just would love him to stay.

"He is important to all the squad, he fills us with confidence and belief of how good we can be and the style of football that we play is so attractive and enjoyable to play in.
