Jermain Defoe will face no action over his alleged dive during Rangers' 4-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday.

The striker, who is on loan from Bournemouth, was accused of simulation following a challenge on him, which led to the second of four penalties Rangers were awarded in the game.

However, the SFA compliance officer deemed there was insufficient evidence to raise a fast track notice of complaint against Defoe.

Defoe, who has scored two goals in three games since moving to Ibrox, will now be free to play for Rangers against Aberdeen on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports.

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke believes Defoe was guilty of diving, and said he should be banned.

Killie midfielder Jordan Jones - who has signed a pre-contract deal with Rangers - was given a retrospective two-game ban for simulation earlier this season.
