Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor cited by SFA for violent conduct

Hibernian defender Darnell Johnson also cited for an over-the-ball challenge on Celtic's Emilio Izaguirre

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been issued with a notice of complaint by the Scottish FA's compliance officer.

He has been cited for violent conduct following an incident involving Aberdeen's Lewis Ferguson during Rangers' 4-2 win at Pittodrie on Wednesday.

McGregor must attend a hearing on Tuesday but is free to play in Rangers' Scottish Cup tie against Kilmarnock this weekend.

The 37-year-old caught Ferguson in the shin with his studs in the 68th minute after racing out of goal to gather the ball.

The challenge went unpunished but McGregor could retrospectively be given a two-match ban.

Rangers have already appealed against the red card shown to striker Alfredo Morelos during Wednesday's game.

Meanwhile, Hibernian defender Darnell Johnson has also been cited for an over-the-ball challenge on Emilio Izaguirre during their 2-0 defeat at Celtic.
