Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been given a three-match ban after losing his appeal against the red card he received against Aberdeen.

Morelos was dismissed during Rangers' 4-2 win at Pittodrie after appearing to stamp on Scott McKenna, who was also red-carded after aiming a kick at the Colombian's face.

Morelos' appeal was dismissed at an SFA disciplinary hearing on Friday evening and he will serve an immediate two-game ban, ruling him out of Saturday's Scottish Cup tie against Kilmarnock and the league game against St Johnstone on February 16.

He will also serve an additional one-match ban in the Premiership, because it is his second red card of the season in the league - the one he was shown against Aberdeen in August was rescinded.

That suspension kicks in 14 days on from Wednesday's game, meaning he will miss the trip to Hamilton on February 24.
