Steven Gerrard is relishing Alfredo Morelos and Scott McKenna lining up against each other again in the Scottish Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard say it is a "box office battle" when Alfredo Morelos faces Scott McKenna and they are just the sort of contests fans want to see.

The Rangers striker has been sent off three times against Aberdeen this season with two of those incidents involving McKenna.

The latest confrontation came in the Scottish Premiership game last month when both players were dismissed after an ugly tussle during Rangers' 4-2 win.

The two meet again on Sunday when Rangers play Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals at Pittodrie and Gerrard is relishing the prospect.

"I think they're both box office to watch for neutral people," said Gerrard.

"I'm sure it will be another physical battle between them both and hopefully both players stay on the right side of it this time and we can see that box office battle for 90 minutes.

"I think it was a real shame that both of them got sent off last time, I was really enjoying it.

"Scott's a tremendous defender, he's always physical and Alfredo on the day was unplayable, so it was certainly great to watch.

"Hopefully both players can stay on the pitch for 90 minutes this time because they are the type of players and battles that everyone wants to see, not just for part of the game but all of it."

Morelos has been in fine form this season, scoring 28 goals in 40 games.

The Colombian had a spell on the sidelines earlier this month when he completed a three-match ban for the latest red card against Aberdeen.

But he returned to the side in midweek and scored in the 4-0 win over Dundee at Ibrox on Wednesday.

"Alfredo doesn't have to prove anything to anyone but himself," added the Rangers boss.

"He just needs to go out and give us the best performance he's got. The goals he scored up there were top class, his all round performance was unplayable .

"A lot of defenders have to be physical with him to try and stop him but Alfredo should see that as a complement .

"He just needs to focus on the game and what we need him to do to help us get an important win."
