Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has had no discussions with the Ibrox board about his future, as he insists he can handle any pressure

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst says he has had no discussions with the Ibrox board about his future.

Van Bronckhorst is under pressure with the club currently trailing Celtic by four points in the Scottish Premiership title race and they have also suffered heavy defeats throughout their Champions League campaign.

Rangers have been booed off the park by their own fans in recent weeks but Van Bronckhorst is determined to turn things around.

"Of course I have discussions with the board and Ross (Wilson), but my future and my position at the moment was never discussed," he said.

"It's something I've always had throughout my career - the pressure to perform, the pressure to reach your standard in every game.

"Of course you feel pressure, but the most pressure is the pressure I put myself under.

"That's something I'm used to and it gives me strength and energy to keep going forward and that's the only thing I can do."

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed striker Kemar Roofe has suffered another calf injury

Roofe suffers new injury

The manager revealed striker Kemar Roofe was back on the sidelines after suffering another calf injury.

The 29-year-old recovered from a complaint - which has kept him out since the start of the season - to feature off the bench against Dundee and Livingston recently.

However, another knock to the same area means he will be missing against Aberdeen on Saturday.

The Gers boss said: "Kemar was also not involved on Wednesday (against Napoli) but he picked up another injury so we won't have him for a couple of weeks. It is the same area but a different injury.

"First, it is very frustrating for Kemar. He has had a history of injuries since he came to this club, not only with me but also previously.

"So for me, that is the most frustrating thing for Kemar himself because he works hard, he is trying every time to come back and whenever he is back, it is always a set-back within a couple of weeks and that is very frustrating for him."

The Dutchman is hoping his injury woes will start to ease during the World Cup break, but admits they will be ready for the transfer window opening in January.

"Hopefully we can welcome some injured players back by the time the window is open, so we have to be ready whatever happens." he said.

With Celtic not playing Livingston until Sunday, Rangers can close the gap at the top to a point with victory over the Dons and Van Bronckhorst is demanding a strong start from his players to get the Ibrox support on side.

"We have to start positive, on the front foot and that will get the reaction of the fans," he added.

"We don't want to start the way we did last week or the fans will be almost against you if they're not agreeing with what happens on the pitch. That's why we have to start well, organised, creating chances and be aggressive."
