Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says Jonny Hayes' hamstring injury means he is reluctant to let teenage winger Scott Wright leave on loan.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle boss Richie Foran was keen to take the 19-year-old on a season-long loan to the Highland capital but McInnes was not convinced such a move would be in the player's best interests.

McInnes told the Evening Express: "Richie called about Scott a few weeks ago and from speaking to Richie, I was never convinced that he saw Scott as a starter.

"If I am going to loan any of my young players out, it is important they go and play. We also have an injury to Jonny Hayes and Scott is doing great.

"Scott is playing with a high level of consistency with his performance in training and games. The best place for Scott is here at the minute."
