Sky Sports News HQ understands transfer negotiations between Hearts and Kyle Lafferty are progressing well.
Sources close to the former Rangers striker have told Sky Sports News HQ he would like to join Hearts.
The Northern Ireland international will meet with club officials for a second time in a matter of days on Monday.
The move could be finalised within 48 hours subject to personal terms being agreed.
Hibernian, Metz and Ipswich have all previously shown interest in the 29-year old since he was released by Norwich.
Should the deal be completed, Hearts coach Austin MacPhee and defender Aaron Hughes will have played roles in convincing him to join.
Hughes is Northern Ireland's most capped outfield player and MacPhee is a key part of Michael O'Neill's backroom staff.
Lafferty is Northern Ireland's top scorer in World Cup qualifying with three goals.
