Police in Scotland say they are investigating reports of sectarian singing and coin throwing during the match with Hearts and Celtic

Police Scotland have launched an investigation into alleged sectarian singing and coin throwing during Celtic's 2-1 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle on Wednesday.

The incidents are the latest of a number of similar high-profile occurrences of crowd trouble in the Scottish Premiership.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Edinburgh are currently investigating reports of sectarian singing that took place within Tynecastle Stadium on Wednesday 27th February.

"Inquiries into this matter are being led by Police Scotland's FOCUS unit."

Police are also investigating reports that coins were thrown from the away stand during the game. Television footage appears to show coins landing near Hearts goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal in the final minute of the second half.

In November, Zlamal was floored during a game with Hibernian as he went to retrieve the ball from the away fans behind the goal.

Celtic's interim boss Neil Lennon, then in charge of Hibernian, was also struck by a coin during the Edinburgh derby at Tynecastle.
