Dundee United manager Ray McKinnin has strengthened his squad with the signing of defenders Frank van der Struijk and William Edjenguele on one-year contracts.

Dutchman Van der Struijk, 31, has played over 300 games in the Eredivisie with Willem II and SBV Vitesse and operates on the right side of the defence.

French centre-back Edjenguele, 29, has previously played in the Greece, Switzerland and England, where he played 33 times for Coventry City and 19 for Bury.

McKinnon told his club's official website: "We had to be patient with both these signings. We worked on these deals for a good few weeks and I am delighted to get them on board.

"They will add experience and quality to our squad in an area I have been looking to strengthen. Both will play a part in Saturday's game versus Peterhead."

Edjenguele said: "It is a beautiful day for me and now I just want to start working and help the team achieve some success. I have some flair in my game but I am here to defend first and foremost."
