Inverness Caledonian Thistle secured seventh position in the Scottish Premiership as they cruised past Dundee 4-0 at the Tulloch Caledonian stadium.

Dundee had to settle for eighth as they never threatened to overhaul their in-form hosts, who were winning for a fourth time in their last five outings.

Elsewhere, Dundee United signed off from the top flight with a 4-2 win at play-off finalists Kilmarnock, while Partick's highly satisfactory campaign ended with a 2-2 draw against Hamilton.

Richie Foran's penalty six minutes from time sealed Caley Thistle's most emphatic win of the campaign.

Stuttering Kilmarnock did not enjoy the ideal preparation for next week's play-off final against Falkirk as Dundee United made hay in the Ayrshire sunshine.

Kallum Higginbotham and Tope Obadeyi had put Lee Clark's strugglers 2-1 up after Mark Durnan had put United in front.

At Firhill, all the thrills came in the first 20 minutes as Thistle and Accies shared four goals in an entertaining final-day draw to secure ninth and 10th place finishes respectively.

All four goals came inside the first 20 minutes; Kris Doolan headed the hosts in front, Eamonn Brophy equalised from the penalty spot before David Amoo celebrated his new deal by putting Thistle 2-1 in front from close range (19).

Brophy got his second of the game to level it up a minute later and only the woodwork denied the Accies midfielder the matchball.
