Italy midfielder Marco Verratti has signed a new five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, according to his agent.

The 23-year-old, who has won four Ligue 1 titles and five domestic cups at the Parc de Princes but missed much of last season with a knee injury, had been reportedly linked with Real Madrid and Juventus this summer in the Spanish and Italian press.

However, he has chosen to stay put and Verratti's agent Donato Di Campli tweeted a picture of the player signing paperwork with the caption: "And we arrive at the fourth renewal.... signed until 2021."

Verratti has been one of the star performers in France's top flight since his arrival from Pescara in 2012.

This is Verratti's second contract extension in just over five months, having signed until 2020 in February.
