Guardiola keen to keep Frenchman

Josep Guardiola is eager to keep Thierry Henry at Barcelona for the start of the new season, according to reports in Spain. Henry had a quiet first year at Camp Nou following his switch from Arsenal and speculation has been rife that he could return to the Premier League this summer. However, El Mundo Deportivo has now claimed that Henry will remain part of Guardiola's plans following a direct meeting with the new Barcelona boss. It is understood that Guardiola spoke to Henry about his desire to have highly motivated players in his squad. The Frenchman is believed to be desperate to make amends for a disappointing season and impressed Guardiola with his attitude in the discussions. Henry may also be asked to play as a left winger with Guardiola looking at other strikers in the transfer market.
