Karim Benzema could miss Real Madrid's opening Champions League fixture of the season after suffering a hamstring injury during Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Levante.

The French striker limped off in the 28th minute to be replaced by Gareth Bale.

The reigning European champions entertain APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday but may have to do without Benzema who, according to a club statement, has suffered a hamstring problem.

Both goals came before half-time, with Real ending the game with 10 men after Marcelo was dismissed in the 89th minute for kicking out at Jefferson Lerma.
