Crestfallen front man keen to get back to his best

Roma's Brazilian striker Adriano has denied he is having problems fitting in at the Serie A superpower. The South American front man has endured a chequered career since breaking on to the scene nearly a decade ago. After moving to Serie A giants Inter Milan from Flamengo back in 2001, Adriano went on to become a major player in European football and an integral player for both the Nerazzurri and the Brazilian national team. But several off-field issues saw the left-footed marksman return to his native land where he had spells at Sao Paulo and his former club Flamengo. After two years back in his homeland, Roma secured the powerfully-built forward's services but the 28-year-old has yet to establish himself in the Giallorossi starting XI. But Adriano, who is unhappy playing second fiddle at the Stadio Olimpico according to Italian media, insists he is content to try to force his way into the Roma first team.

Happy

He told Extra: "I am not unhappy at Roma like I heard it being said in some places. "There are some things that I really don't want to hear about because I am under contract for three years and I am vey happy. "The lies that have been said in the last few days can put my relationship with the supporters into problems and I don't want that to happen." Adriano has been plagued by off-field problems throughout his career but the out-of-favour Brazil international claims he has turned a corner since joining Claudio Ranieri's side. He added: "I have improved physically so I think that soon I will be able to play an entire match. "When I arrived at Roma, my weight was 104kg and now it's 99.9kg. I have to lose some more weight to be totally in shape." Adriano also believes the capital club will see the best of him when his family join him in Italy. "Personally I am fine and I will be even better when my girlfriend Danielle joins me," he said. "She isn't in Italy yet because there are some problems to be resolved with our children."
