Spaniard keen to get started at capital club

New Lazio signing Javier Garrido knows he faces a tough task in filling Aleksandar Kolarov's boots at the Serie A club. Spanish left-back Garrido signed a five-year deal with the capital side after passing a medical on Tuesday morning, sealing his exit from Manchester City. Kolarov moved in the opposite direction last month, six days before City announced they had agreed a fee with Lazio for the sale of 25-year-old Garrido. Garrido, who made just 49 Premier League outings in three seasons with City, is now keen to revive his career.

Responsibility

"Replacing (Kolarov) is an important responsibility," said Garrido. "Now I'm here and he is at Manchester, it's a new stage in my career, with new team-mates. "I really hope to give everything I have inside to be able to reach an important aim, whether on a personal or group level. "I am really happy to be here, this club is one that is respected in Italy and it is very well known and appreciated on a European level too. "For me it is a new experience which gives me so many positive emotions. I hope to do really well." Garrido arrived at Eastlands from Real Sociedad in a £1.5million deal three years ago. The stopper featured in the majority of their matches during his first season, but took a back seat to Wayne Bridge when he signed with City last year.
