United States midfielder Jermaine Jones plans to stay at Schalke after opting not to make a move away from the club during the latest transfer window, according to his agent.
Jones spent time on loan in the Premier League with Blackburn last season after reportedly rowing with former Schalke manager Felix Magath.
The 29-year-old, who is contracted at the Bundesliga side until 2014, was consequently linked with a move away from the Veltins Arena this summer.
Schalke were thought to be keen to offload him, with the defensive midfielder believed to be one of the highest earners on the club's books.
However, Jones, who joined the German outfit on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2007, has decided to stay put, according to his representative Roger Wittmann.
He told German newspaper
Reviersport: "Jermaine had made his decision. He wants to stay at Schalke, therefore he did not move on."
"He once had a good time at Schalke but then working conditions temporarily changed for him. However, now he is looking forward to helping the club build a new team."
