Bayern Munich and France forward Franck Ribery suffers cruciate ligament injury

Franck Ribery faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after Bayern Munich confirmed the France forward has suffered a serious knee injury.
The 34-year-old was replaced by compatriot Kingsley Coman just after the hour mark after overextending his left leg in Bayern's 2-2 draw at Hertha Berlin on Sunday afternoon.
Bayern have now confirmed Ribery has torn the lateral cruciate ligament (LCL) in his left knee which will keep him out until next year, leaving his participation at the 2018 World Cup in doubt.
"We're sorry Franck has hurt himself. We all wish him a quick and good improvement," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the club's official website.
Ribery has already begun rehabilitation but further therapy and training will be decided at a later date depending on the healing process, the Bundesliga champions added.
