Poor start sees Swiss coach lose his job

Bochum have sacked coach Marcel Koller after their poor start to the season. Koller took over at Bochum in 2005 and steered them back to the Bundesliga in his first season in charge before helping them stay up for the next three seasons. However, Bochum have lost four of their opening six games and Saturday's 3-2 home defeat to Mainz was the last straw for the club's board. Bochum sports director Thomas Ernst paid tribute to Koller for the work he had achieved at the club during his four years at the helm. "We owe Marcel Koller a lot," said Ernst in a statement. "We are in our fourth consecutive year in the top flight under him and that had not happened since our first relegation in 1993. We wish him all the best."
