Berghuis shuns Spurs offer

Tristan Berghuis has turned down a reported offer from Spurs in favour of continuing his progress in Holland.

Vitesse teenager happy to carry on in Holland

Dutch starlet Tristan Berghuis has turned down a reported contract offer from Tottenham in favour of continuing his progress in Holland. The 15-year-old midfielder, currently with the Vitesse Arnhem/AGOVV Apeldoorn youth academy, had been linked with a move to North London. The Netherlands Under-16 international recently spent time on trial at White Hart Lane, as well as completing a trial stint with Spurs' Premier League rivals Chelsea. But his father, former Holland international Frank Berghuis, says it is too soon for his son to make a permanent overseas move. He told OnsOranje.nl: "Tristan is very happy at Vitesse and will play next season with the U16s on the highest stage in the Netherlands. "After that he will complete his final year at school, as it is too early to move on to England."
